Sollicitatiegesprek
I applied for the position and got a call within about 3-4 days. I dealt with a Recruiter (male) who seemed genuine and interested, but I read between the lines that it seemed the process was very long and involved. This initial meeting didn't feel like an interview, but I treated it as such. We ended up being on the phone for almost an hour, and I was contacted within a few days about a second interview.
The second interview was with the same recruiter. I ended up talking to him for almost 2 hours and he then made a one hour presentation about the company - and I was given a one hour tour of the building.
Within another week or so, I was invited to another series of interviews. They were back to back one hour interviews (there was 4 of them, all with different people), and I ended up spending the day answering a series of Behavioural questions. It was intense to say the least.
I was then informed within a couple days of my last epic interview that there was a chance the position I appied for would be relocated out of province - and they wanted me to go through the exact same process for another position in my area as I was now out of the running for the previous job due to this sudden shuffling.
While I was pleased to be considered for another position - I was put off - and now realized this seemed to be a company that didn't really view the interviewee's time as being particularly valuable.
On the plus side, everyone was very nice, helpful and seemed sincere in wanting good people. But I was clearly very aggravated, as the interview process was now approaching 10 hours for a position that they spur of the moment decided to move (if they are so keen on 'planning and process' they should have informed me of this potential in advance)
Despite the friendly people, great pay, and great company - I feel like they chase their tails - and waste a LOT of the interviewees time. It also has a little bit of a "cult" feel to it. There was very little focus on high quality content - and a great deal of focus on company culture. This is important - but certainly not a #1 priority.
I am not keen on interviewing for the second position for the aforementioned reasons. A slightly sour taste in your mouth during the interview process is almost always a bad sign.
Job searchers - a very gentle beware of these folks....keep your guard up. Our time is valuable too.
