1. Recruiter phone call
2. Call with engineer
3. Homework assignment
4. Call with another engineer to go over homework
5. Paid onsite for 2 days
6. Homework essay assignment
7. I send a follow up email after 5 days after no response
8. I finally get a response saying they will tell me whether I got the job over the phone (would not give me an answer over email for some reason)
9. Receive rejection and interview feedback over phone call
This was overall quite a weird interview experience, especially since there is a homework assignment post-interview, and the recruiter would not tell me if I got the position or not over email. They were already late in giving me a response—why delay it another day just so you can tell me over the phone? Mapbox needs to realize that their candidates need prompt responses, especially after already spending so much time on the interview process, so the interviewee can move on and continue interviewing with other companies.
