Thanks for sharing your thoughts and putting so much effort into the process.
We’re sorry to hear your experience didn’t meet your expectations. It’s never our intention to cause frustration or come across as dismissive. Hiring at our company is a two-way street— finding the right match for both sides. While we value candidates' efforts, we must stay true to the qualities and skills that align with our team.
For more clarity, here are some common challenges we see at the test task stage that might help explain our decision. One frequent issue is with the SQL task, where we assess how candidates approach problem-solving. We look for an iterative approach—starting small, running queries often, and refining as you go. When that isn’t clear, it can raise concerns about authenticity, like relying too heavily on external sources or AI-generated solutions.
For Ruby/JS tasks, we often notice:
- Using .each with manual array pushing instead of .map.
- Missing opportunities to leverage hashes with default values.
- Overlooking regular expressions or not using .each_char when appropriate.
These details help us gauge experience and solution design, but we understand that candidates don’t always get a chance to explain their reasoning.
Yes, our process is challenging. However, that’s how we’ve built the strong team we have today. That said, we’d love to see your application again as you continue to grow.
Thank you again for your feedback—it helps us improve, and we wish you all the best in your journey ahead!
