Two phone interviews, an online scientific presentation, and an in person interview where I met with a variety of people 1 on 1. Very enjoyable interview process even though I wasn't offered the job. I walked away even more impressed with the company and their people then I already was.

      Sollicitatiegesprek

. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire Recursion interview process. It was a four-part interview process. The first step consisted of a brief phone interview which was very preliminary. I would categorize this stage as a “phone screen” where the interviewer was trying to assess my research ability, my critical thinking ability and my areas of expertise. The next step was a 20-minute job talk via Zoom. The questions I got were from scientist who were genuinely curious about my work. Although the employees kept stressing that you always have to be on your toes in this fast-paced environment what I saw were employees that enjoyed their jobs and were highly motivated to create an amazing research team and make a clinical impact. After this I was invited to the on-site interview in SLC. Everything was set up very professionally through their travel website and their availability calendar. The interview day was long (packed with back-to-back 30 minute interviews) but I got to meet with several people at different levels in the company. Although each of them came prepared with interview questions that I answered, I think they also tried to get a good feel of if the individual would thrive in their company culture. I had a break during lunch and was able to sample cooking from their in-house chef! The very last part of the day was a brief presentation on a random disease that they assign you ~1 week prior. I actually really enjoyed this part because it gave me a good sense of what working at Recursion would be like. It was intimidating but absolutely necessary for them to assess the candidates ability. After the on-site they said they would be in touch which took a few weeks. The final step of the interview process was a phone call with the CEO, Chris Gibson. I loved that he took the time to interview me and I really got an amazing sense of the long-term goals of the company. Overall, I think Recursion is an amazing company that will have great success! All of the employees were positive, energetic and committed to the company’s mission. For me, the only downside was the actual city and the climate. I feel like I didn’t have enough time to get a good feel for the city. If you are invited to an on-site interview, give your body time to adjust to the altitude before the interview and ample time to explore the city’s housing options!

      Sollicitatiegesprek

I was very keen to work at Recursion as from their website they seemed to be an awesome company. On line application - CV and cover letter; quick email response to set up a phone call. Call lasted 20 mins - seemed very positive, was talked through the next steps - which included a writing assignment, which was then to be followed up by a Skype-type presentation, and then a face to face interview and tour of the facilities. I was given a week to do the assignment, but told it was OK if it took 2 weeks. It was meant to take 4-5 hours to complete, I spent much more time on this as I had to learn about their platform and how I was incorporate this into a drug screen for an immunological disease, and wanted to make sure I did well. Returned the assignment after 2 days, thought I had done a really good job but got an email on Saturday afternoon saying they were going to follow up with other candidates that were more suitably qualified. Very disappointing, especially after the time and effort put into the assignment - emailed HR to ask for some feedback, was told the hiring manager would provide this - waited a week and got nothing, emailed again and no response. :(
