🎉 We’ve hit 100 patrols! In August, we celebrated a huge milestone — welcoming our 100th Green Flag patrol member. From day one, our mission has been clear: help people when they need it most. Our patrols are more than roadside experts — they’re calm in the chaos, tech-savvy problem-solvers, and everyday heroes. Whether it’s fixing a breakdown or supporting someone through a tough moment, they make a real difference. “It’s not just about fixing a car — it’s about fixing the customer’s day.” — Ali, London Patrol “It feels like the family is growing.” — Keith, Southeast Midlands “We’re building something special — and we’re just getting started.” — Damon Jowett

Margo Lamkin joined DLG twenty years ago, on a career path that would see her become our first ever female Motor Fulfilment Area Manager working as part of our DLG Auto Services team. Yet, a recent survey by Direct Line Group has revealed that just 44% of parents would encourage their daughters to pursue a career in car repairs, dropping to just 39% for roadside recovery. We want to encourage more women to get involved in traditionally male-dominated careers and to challenge the perception that motor industry roles aren’t for girls. After all, as Margo explains, “My experience is that this industry has given me a stable, interesting, rewarding career, where I’m constantly learning new skills and have plenty of progression opportunities. After 20 years, I still wake up each morning excited to see what a difference I can make with my day.”
Did you know that a third of British men take better care of their cars than their health? While we’re all for a well-maintained motor, this new research by the charity Movember highlights how important it is to encourage men to discuss health concerns and seek help. As we approach Men’s Health Week, Green Flag will be working with Movember the world’s leading men’s health charity, to get England on the road to better men’s health. Green Flag’s technicians will support people who have broken down at the roadside and share information that gets people thinking about their health. They’ll also share details of a men’s health survey that will be used to help inform the government’s Men’s Health Strategy. Confidence isn’t just something we talk about – it’s something we build together. From attracting the right talent to helping them grow and succeed, Lyndsay Taylor, our Head of Learning, Development & Talent Acquisition, shares how learning and development are at the heart of what we do. Because when our people grow, so does our business.
Direct Line Group is proud to support and develop our employees through ongoing learning opportunities that can be undertaken throughout their career - in person, online and virtually. At DLG, we learn every single day. Whether through formal training, professional qualifications, apprenticeships, mentoring, coaching, peer networking, or experiential learning opportunities. We learn about our business and our customers. We learn how to solve problems, how to communicate, how to refine processes and how to take advantage of opportunities. We learn how to treat each other with respect and kindness. And we learn how to grow, both personally and professionally. We learn – because at DLG, every day is a learning day.
