We’re proud to join the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) delivery team for National Gas's landmark Project Union East Coast, which will create a core-hydrogen network across Great Britain. Working alongside WSP as FEED Integrator and National Gas’s in-house experts, our role covers engineering design, environmental assessment, public consultation and route consenting for this pivotal two-year FEED phase. Our expertise will help shape the infrastructure needed to connect key industrial clusters, reduce emissions and accelerate the UK’s transition to a hydrogen economy. This collaboration reinforces Kent’s commitment to enabling the energy transition and delivering complex, strategically vital projects that support Net Zero ambitions.
The energy transition is picking up pace, and in Europe’s offshore sector, Kent is helping lead the charge. From engineering solutions that decarbonise oil and gas infrastructure to pioneering offshore wind design, we’re applying our expertise to deliver lower carbon outcomes for complex offshore projects. As we head to Aberdeen for SPE Offshore Europe in September, our team is ready to share exactly how we’re accelerating progress. Whether it’s optimising offshore assets, reducing embedded carbon, or building more resilient energy systems, we’re focused on turning ambition into impact. Don’t miss Clementine Thompson discussing ‘Multi-objective Optimisation of Cost and Carbon of Offshore Wind Foundations’ on Thursday 4 September at 14:30 BST. It’s a must-attend session for anyone looking to balance sustainability with commercial delivery in offshore wind. Drop by our stand No. 2G30 to share ideas and help shape the future of offshore energy. See you in Aberdeen.

How do we build a workforce fit for the future global energy system? It’s no secret the energy sector is facing a growing talent gap. With a rapidly evolving industry, we need fresh thinking, future-ready skills and a stronger focus on developing the people who will drive the transition - and we need it fast. At Kent, we’re addressing this challenge from multiple angles. Internally, we invest in bespoke training and upskilling programmes tailored to each country and region to keep our people at the forefront of industry demands. Alongside these, our Graduate Programme supports early-career talent with structured development opportunities as they begin their journey in the energy sector. For our clients, we offer solutions like our Kent Academy for Operational Readiness, which delivers tailored, site-specific training designed to ensure teams are competent, confident and job-ready from day one. At Gastech Exhibition & Conference, Danie de Kock, will join the strategic leadership panel ‘Bridging the talent gap to build the future global energy ecosystem’s workforce’, exploring how industry culture, skills development and workforce inclusion must evolve in step with the sector’s transition ambitions. Join us as we rethink how the energy workforce is built, supported and sustained.
At Kent, we’re helping clients transform how they operate by embedding artificial intelligence and digital engineering solutions into their energy projects. From digital twins to advanced analytics, we’re applying data-driven tools that improve efficiency, predict risks and enable smarter decisions in real time. This year at Gastech Exhibition & Conference, Michael Deighton will join the panel ‘Operational excellence through the application of artificial intelligence technologies.’ He’ll discuss how AI is reshaping operations across the sector, and what it takes to overcome the challenges of implementation, from data quality and cybersecurity to workforce adoption and return on investment. Join us at Gastech to explore how we’re using AI & Digital Engineering Solutions to drive safer, more efficient and more resilient operations. Be sure to visit our Stand No. F90 to meet the team and learn more about our digital solutions.
CSU complexity. Tight timelines. Localisation targets. Our response? The Kent Academy for Operational Readiness. We’re rethinking energy workforce training by combining immersive learning, operational expertise, and smart digital infrastructure. We’re helping our clients around the world, train faster, scale smarter, and operate safer, right from Day One.
What happens when hydrogen meets steel? Or when yesterday’s pipelines need to carry tomorrow’s energy? At Kent, we’re helping clients answer these questions every day. Whether designing new infrastructure or repurposing existing assets, our hydrogen specialists combine materials science with practical engineering to ensure pipelines remain safe, reliable and future-fit. This year, David Baxter will address these challenges at Gastech Exhibition & Conference Exhibition & Conference. He’ll discuss how hydrogen impacts material properties, and the critical role engineering assessments play in determining the suitability of pipeline systems, whether you're building new or adapting what’s already in the ground. Join us at Gastech to hear how we’re supporting the hydrogen transition through rigorous science and smart design. Be sure to visit our Stand No. F90 to meet our team and learn more about our work across the hydrogen value chain.
From asset integrity and brownfield modifications to safe, efficient decommissioning, we manage complexity across the entire lifecycle of energy infrastructure. Discover our services on our website.
Some projects deliver results. Others build something deeper. From 2019, we played a central role in one of the most complex commissioning programmes in the energy sector, delivering across five key scopes in Western Kazakhstan. The achievement was huge - First Oil in January 2025, 24.5 million LTI-free hours, 96% national workforce, and a facility now producing up to 900,000 barrels per day. But for our team in Kazakhstan, this campaign meant even more. It was about knowledge shared, people empowered, and the quiet, everyday leadership that lifts a team from capable to exceptional. In his latest article, David Boland shares what this project taught him about legacy, trust, and the power of local teams to deliver lasting impact. For this project, success wasn’t just measured by barrels or deadlines, but by the legacy we left behind. Read the full article on our website.
We recently launched a 6-month reverse mentoring programme with one goal in mind: to open up space for real conversations across levels, experiences and backgrounds. At Kent, we believe great ideas, fresh perspectives and meaningful feedback aren’t reserved for any one level. Everyone has something to teach, and everyone has something to learn. When Matt Postles, a Senior Structural Engineer in our UK team, began mentoring John Gilley, our CEO, it wasn’t just a programme. From day one, it was honest, unfiltered and personal - touching on everything from inclusive communication to leadership vulnerability. In this latest feature, Matt and John reflect on their experience, and why this cross-level dialogue is reshaping how we lead, listen and learn here at Kent. Their story is proof that reverse mentoring is more than a bold initiative. It’s inclusion in action. Read Matt and John’s full story on our website.
