June: Brain Health Awareness Month Stroke can happen to anyone. Zosia Wasylewski was only 14 years old when it happened to her. It was a normal day at school, when Zosia suddenly realized she couldn’t stand or control her left arm. “I feel like I’m having a stroke,” she said, and was rushed to the hospital where doctors found a blood clot blocking the right middle cerebral artery of her brain. Without losing any time, they performed a thrombectomy successfully retrieving the clot, restoring the blood flow to Zosia’s brain - all within 15 minutes. Stroke specialists emphasize that time is brain and Zosia agrees: “In my case, time saved me.”
