This month we celebrated Women in Construction Week, dedicated to the women who are out in the field every day protecting critical infrastructure. Utility locating requires technical skill, focus, and a strong commitment to safety — and the women of USIC bring all of that and more to the job. Their work helps prevent utility damage, protect communities, and keep projects moving safely. Thank you to the women who continue to make an impact across the construction and damage prevention industries. #WomenInConstructionWeek #811 #DamagePrevention #UtilityLocating #USIC #leadingfromthegroundup
Proud to stand for safety at the Capitol. Recently, USIC’s Nancy Mitchell and CJ Walters joined WV 811 Executive Director Jerry Poague and Deputy Director Brandon Hahn in the Capitol Rotunda to help educate legislators on the importance of updating West Virginia’s Underground Damage Prevention Law. The proposed update would provide locators with additional time to respond — helping ensure accurate markings, safer excavation, and better protection for our communities and critical infrastructure. House Bill 4464 is scheduled to be heard in the Senate Committee on Government Organization today, with plans for consideration by the full Senate before the end of the 2026 legislative session. USIC has been proud to support and play an instrumental role in its adoption and progress. Safety is always our priority, and we appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with industry partners and lawmakers to strengthen damage prevention efforts across West Virginia. #DamagePrevention #811 #SafetyFirst #InfrastructureProtection #WestVirginia #LeadingfromtheGroundUp
