Position: Field Technician

Company: Southern Scientific Services Ltd is expanding its Environmental sampling department. We are currently seeking an Environmental Field Technician in the Clare/Limerick area with a need to report to our Tuam office daily for collection/drop off of samples.

Position:

The Environmental Field Technician will be responsible for sampling drinking, ground and surface water samples to ISO standard. This role will also involve the following:

• The operation and maintenance of auto-sampler systems and field equipment, documentation and logging samples.
• Use of basic computer software to enter field data and observations through the Laboratory Information System (LIMS) system and a mobile app for logging field data etc.
• Understanding of and adherence to environmental regulations and procedures will be a requirement of this position.
• The Field Technician will be responsible for conducting onsite tests including pH, Conductivity, temperature, DO, total and free chlorine and other specified tests.
• Completing and maintaining all the necessary paperwork associated with the samples and maintaining all records required by the laboratory
• Excellent communication skills required when dealing with clients onsite and building a good working relationship with all clients.
• Maintaining the reputation of the company by being prompt and professional.
• Operation and proper maintenance of a company vehicle, cell phone and any other equipment.
• Willingness to undertake daily travel including occasional overnight stays will form an important part of this role. The role will involve travelling within Co. Cork and also on occasion to neighbouring counties as required.

Hold a full clean drivers license. Must be able to drive safely in various conditions and must be able to follow maps/directions.

Candidates should be aware that working hours may change depending on the sampling schedule/ requirement for emergency sampling/collections.
