Pluspunten
MORENTZ sells a diverse range of midcentury design pieces to an international public, creating an appealing job to work with beautiful design. Their clientele is mostly based in the U.S, however, they sell their furniture worldwide. Most of the colleagues within the company are pleasant to work with. In general, MORENTZ is structured in an array of different departments. The combination of all different branches such as sales, research, content and the atelier make for an interesting dynamic throughout the company.
Minpunten
However, a toxic atmosphere runs the company that is predominantly apparent in the hierarchy. This mainly manifests itself in bullying, manipulation and intimidation. Overall, MORENTZ presents itself as being an international company that has an open office culture and is non-judgmental towards their co-workers, wanting to give everyone the opportunity to grow. Unfortunately, less is true. Generally, there is a lot of judgement outing itself in gossip. This predominantly happens because many essential information is held secret for workers. Moreover, there is no room to grow, no place for own initiative and being pro-active is seen as a threat. Appreciation and respect are off the table. Employees at MORENTZ are unappreciated for their hard work and merely receive negative feedback on their tasks. This results in frustration and discouragement. Because of this attitude, there is no consideration for the mental health of employees. Poor management is largely visible throughout the company. Despite the company having over 60 employees, there is only a dysfunctional “HR-team”. This highlights the unprofessional level MORENTZ represents. This unprofessionalism is furthermore visible in the lack of good, constructive communication. Often, people are rude and don’t take in consideration the consequences of their actions and words. Working hours don’t exist at MORENTZ. Since communication primarily runs via WhatsApp, there is no space for a private life. Employees often get texts and phone calls on their private phone at night, weekends and during holidays. When asking to have some room for your private life, you get threatened, are forced to work late without getting paid and are intimidated. Therefore, a healthy work-life balance is non-existent. In all honesty, I would not recommend working at MORENTZ.
