Pluspunten
- Competitive hourly pay at the assistant level and extremely (!) competitive compensation for salaried managers - Nice office space fully stocked with free snacks and coffee, full kitchens in break rooms, ample parking - Work/life balance for hourly employees is second to none. When you’re not clocked in, you can’t work or access your emails! Most managers leave at 5 so work life balance is relatively consistent across the board. At the assistant level, if it’s critical for you to leave at 4 or 4:30 you can pretty much guarantee you’ll be able to (anything else is overtime pay which is a perk) - Robust benefits package (although ALDI needs to better advertise the vesting schedule) - This is a good place for you if you’re a recent college grad in marketing because the pay is above industry average and you can get your feet wet. I would not accept a job here if you have any experience at all. That being said, if you have extenuating circumstances that require you to be gone every day at 4-4:30 and you don’t care about upward mobility and growing your career long term (I.e. looking for a well-paying job with an internationally known company) perhaps I’d also consider it. Many of my fellow assistants have kids or elderly parents to attend to so the job works for them and the needs of their family. - Quality store and place to show. Products are of high quality and the brand perception is quickly shifting in ALDI’s favor
Minpunten
- Extremely limited room for growth although this is explained during the interview process. If you express a desire to grow into a leadership role with ALDI you will not move forward in the interview process. It’s an incredibly archaic way to run a business and truly makes no sense. - This company has a very bizarre culture and structure. It’s extremly rigid, and there are a billion rules about who you can and cannot “talk” to based on your position. ALDI manages by the “rules” versus by what makes the most sense for the business. - No flexibility to work from home (occasional work from home when sick is permitted for managers, but in general it is frowned upon). If you’re looking for a progressive culture, ALDI is not your place. - You are just a number and you are replaceable, ALDI does not care about you or your potential. At the assistant level, you are a “worker bee” and that’s it. - Zero perks besides pay and standard benefits. This isn’t a fun or engaging place to work. I think they do a winter and summer luncheon - but beyond that, there is no real development or employee engagement program nor do they do anything at all to make employees feel welcomed. It isn’t a fun place to work. - Directors and above treat lower level employees/assistants as lesser beings. They often don’t attend birthday or baby celebrations and overall demonstrate a lack of caring about employees/they don’t feel the need to get to know their team on a deeper level because it is a constant revolving door.
