Minpunten
-Literally my store, had half the staff members of a group called 'unite the reich best buy (store#)', and 'hitler wasn't that bad'. I was told jews should get over the holocaust, it wasn't that bad. That minorities deserve genocide. That all blacks and native american customers are thieves, and asians are all cheap perverts. The nazi salute was regularly done in the store on store premises. nothing was done. I repeat. Management punished those who complained. These things all happened at the store, often with customers nearby and when just trying to get work done. -If you are a white man at this company, you will get paid 20/hr. A brown man will get paid 15. a woman, 13. A brown woman gets minimum wage (11). If you ask for a pay raise equivalent to the males who have same experience and service ratings, you will get in trouble. -They also steal wages. My store regularly cut peoples checks by between 10 minutes, to 3 or 4 hours. When people demanded their pay, they were told there is no 'proof' they were there so they don't get paid. People were threatened with firing and fired for asking for their pay. People are pressured into clocking out and then continuing to work with no pay. People are denied their breaks. Those with medical issues are punished for taking breaks for medical reason. People are also denied bathroom breaks and water breaks. All of these things happened nearly every day to the staff of colour and only occasionally to white staff. -WAY too many managers. 5 or so managers who sit on their phone all day. The thing customers don't know is that while best buy is not on commission, the management and supervisors do get commission. So they sit in the back and yell and treat the staff like utter trash, then bring home about 50 000/year before the thousands in monthly bonuses. -Managers and their titles, and the rules, will change every month and they will not tell you. Too many cooks. If you break a rule that was changed yesterday and no-one told you you get yelled at. -Bullying. When you are new you will be hazed. Other staff will call you names, steal your food and hide it...steal your money...put lotion on doors and water on floors, throw things at you, and knock down your work or hide it so you can't get it done. -Overly masculine. Every single upper management is a white man. At meetings it is mandatory to scream, cheer, and play sports, even if you have a medical condition. -They suck up to customers. I witnessed a dude ask for something that was 160$ for free because he wanted it and the manager just gave it to him. If a customer wants it free, you do it. If they ran it over with their car on purpose and the warranty doesn't cover, you refund and give them extra in cash. If they stole it and you have proof, you still refund it and give them coupons and free stuff. The customers know if they are abusive and rude they will get rewarded with money. - I was there for 2 years. By the time I left, a task that in my first months they would have had 3-4 people working on for 8 hrs had one person given 2-4 hours to do. And I never got a raise.
