- You get to take on risk very early on in your career; opportunity to develop new strategies and make big impact as a junior.
- Great work culture: friendly people and little toxicity.
- Good internship to full-time pipeline (which is what I did). They spend a lot of time/resources investing in and training both interns and new-hires.
Minpunten
- Starting salary is on the lower end for the industry
- Especially compared to HFT's, less tech-forward; less exposure to innovative/exciting ML or AI
Collegial atmosphere, I hang out with some of my coworkers on weekends
Much less of an up-and-out culture than other firms (they really want to keep all juniors and hire all interns FT)
Real path to being a head of desk and becoming a partner at the firm (quick as 5 years if not sooner)
Lots of responsibility for juniors (I manage my desk's whole book over the Asia market hours)
Minpunten
The desk you get placed on is decided in a way largely out of your control, especially as a junior. However, I do think most juniors really don't know where their skills lie.
Compensation for juniors is on the lower side for Prop Trading
