The colleagues are very nice people to work with, they are talented and they are always there to help you. Unfortunately, they leave after 1 or 2 years because they are not stimulated enough.

Minpunten

When I initially joined amfori, I noticed right away that there were some organisational problems, but the situation was not that bad. Unfortunately, a bad management, along with poor decisions, made it worse, to the point that the association has been suffering a huge turnover. There are some major issues that cannot be ignored, starting from the top management: the association, which counts 70-80 employees, has 3 vice-presidents. Not only it is a very big number for such a small organisation, but the so-called executive team is not able to work well together: 2 of the VPs constantly fight, whilst the third one has no clue of what is happening in terms of projects. Quite frankly, this is not just a waste of resources, but it is also embarrassing and it does not give a good example to the rest of the organisation. Like if this was not enough, some senior managers are awful people: for example, I have heard stories of some of them insulting their employees during calls, to the point that the teammates had to close the meeting to avoid that it would get worse. Some others like to micromanage people and, although they have no idea of what sustainability means, they are completely shameless and impose their (wrong) decisions to the other employees. These managers only cared about making money, they had no interested in making things right. Not to mention the employees’ health: because of the burden that all the employees had to suffer due to unprofessional managers, some of them had burnouts and I believe they are still on sick leave. Covid has definitely had an impact on the situation, but it cannot be used to justify all the problems running between managers and employees. The president seems committed to make improvement, but it is quite difficult to change the mindset of some of the people who are working at the association.
