Meet Takafumi! Originally from Osaka, Japan, Takafumi joined Gates in 2023 as an Auto Materials Engineer. His passion for innovation has always driven him to transform curiosity into real solutions. In 2024, he became a licensed patent attorney in Japan, strengthening his dedication to protecting and advancing new technologies. By April 2025, he stepped into a new role within Gates’ Intellectual Property and Legal department, where he now combines technical expertise with legal insight to expand his strategic impact. Among his notable contributions is work on an innovative belt-in-oil system for vehicles, a project that sharpened his technical skills and highlighted the value of interdisciplinary collaboration. For Takafumi, engaging with cross-functional teams and sharing knowledge is one of the most rewarding parts of his career. He believes the true differentiator at Gates is its people—the culture of innovation, collaboration, and commitment that fuels both company success and his personal growth. Outside of work, Takafumi is an avid traveler who has explored more than 25 countries and regions. Serbia, which he has visited five times, remains a favorite for its culture, cuisine, architecture, and unique alphabet. Each morning, he starts his day with roasted Japanese tea and a mindset of continuous learning, convinced that curiosity and adaptability are key to solving problems and making an impact.

Louise Ferguson became the first female athlete to complete Red Bull Hardline Wales, widely regarded as one of the most demanding downhill mountain bike tracks in the world. She accomplished this feat on Gates Belt Drive, the drivetrain system designed to deliver the strength, reliability, and precision needed to at the highest level. This was more than a personal milestone, it was a testament to what's possible when cutting-edge technology meets world-class athleticism. Louise’s determination, resilience, and belief in what’s possible reflect the spirit of innovation that drives us every day.

Originally from Yucatán, Mexico, Abraham is the Regional Sales Manager for the Southeast Region of Mexico within the AR division. Since joining Gates in 2011 as a Sales Promoter, he has built a remarkable 14-year career grounded in discipline, strategic thinking, and a deep commitment to our business partners. Over the past five years, Abraham has successfully doubled sales in his region, an achievement recognized with three Regional Sales Manager of the Year awards. Abraham takes great pride in representing a leading brand and enjoys working closely with customers to develop strategies that extend Gates’ reach to more users. What he values most is the opportunity for constant learning and growth, both personally and professionally, which he has embraced by taking on new challenges over the years. Outside of work, Abraham loves traveling with his family and exploring new places. He’s also a soccer enthusiast—while he no longer plays, he remains an avid fan. Abraham holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Instituto Tecnológico de Mérida and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Strategic Management at the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán. He’s driven by continuous improvement and strives to lead by example for his son. His advice: “Prepare yourself and surround yourself with experienced people—there’s something to learn from everyone.
