What an eventful week it was at hashtag#SRS2025! For the first time in Europe, Intuitive unveiled our next generation robotic-assisted surgical system: the transformative da Vinci 5. Surgeons attending hashtag#SRS2025 were among the first in Europe to experience the most advanced and integrated system we’ve ever created. At hashtag#SRS2025, we also conducted a telesurgery demo. 24 years after the Lindbergh operation (in which Prof. Jacques Marescaux in New York operated on a patient in Strasbourg, France), Doug Stoddard, MD, and Andrea Pakula, MD, successfully performed a telesurgery between Atlanta and hashtag#IRCAD France in Strasbourg using a dual console da Vinci 5 surgical system. Thank you to all the pioneers who have been by our side for nearly thirty years on this shared journey of innovation. “Time is everything with lung cancer. Once you detect a lung nodule, you have to act on it promptly and get a diagnosis quickly to get someone to appropriate therapy,” said Dr. Catherine Oberg, an interventional pulmonologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering. It’s that thought that motivates her daily practice, but it wasn’t what inspired her to go into medicine. For Dr. Oberg, becoming a doctor was about helping people. It was the discoveries she made along her path into medicine that channeled her into interventional pulmonology.
