Pluspunten

Generous quarterly bonuses Nice, smart people Been a steady/stable job for me for 5 years so far.

Minpunten

Lots of bureaucracy and process Very complicated and brittle environment from a technical point of view. Don't break anything! Don't got for a snack in the downstairs break room when there's a ping-pong game being played by people whose culture does not believe in wearing deodorant. PEEE-EWWWWW! Several times I've lost my appetite and decided against a snack. Good for weight loss I suppose. Work/life balance occasionally gets out of whack. You can get calls at any hour. They've gone to one of those "unlimited" vacation plans. That stinks. So you never really know how much vacation time you have and if you leave without having taken any you don't get unpaid vacation paid out. I don't understand how that is legal in CA which considers vacation as compensation but that's how they do it. They make a glorified hosted ticket system. Not exactly a sexy product. Hard to get excited about. Focus on your own individual project for inspiration.

Pluspunten

ServiceNow had a differentiated platform and products. Early on the culture had a startup energy that was rare for a company this size collaborative teams, ownership, and a sense that people actually cared about outcomes. Working with large enterprise customers on complex workflows was interesting work.

Minpunten

The ServiceNow I joined was a different company. As headcount increased, so did the bureaucracy, layers, and friction that rewarded politics over execution. The layoffs of the last few years were handled poorly little transparency, inconsistent communication, and decisions that felt made far above with little thought for the people affected. The "cost optimization" messaging rang hollow against continued executive spending. For a company that sells workflow and people process tools, the irony of a chaotic RIF wasn't lost on anyone in the field or on customers. Leadership political dynamics were real. The right team, the right manager you had cover. Performance alone didn't protect you.
