There were 3 interviews in total.
The first interview the woman was absolutely lovely and asks very standard interview questions. "What are your biggest strengths and weaknesses?" "How long will you be in Chile?" "Long term career goals?" There is also a very basic excel test, language test (you will be asked to translate an email), and some other quick skills tests (the ones that require some light math and quick thinking). The interview was approx. 60% in English and 40% in Spanish. (The role requires native English and intermediate Spanish)
The 2nd interview was entirely in Spanish. The woman was also very lovely! She asked about my experience, reasoning for living in Chile, and future plans. Additionally, she asked questions about specific examples of experiences in past work such as "Tell me about a time where you had to do something/ project that was completely out of your line of work or knowledge. How did you accomplish it?" "How do you manage stress?" "What are some of the biggest challenges you have dealt with in past jobs?" "Why do you want to work here?"
The 3rd interview was also in Spanish. The interview was with a man this time. It was one of the most uncomfortable experiences of my life. It felt as though this person had never conducted an interview before and was just thrown my resume and thought he'd have a go at it. He starts it off with "You have any questions?". Do I have questions now? At the start of the interview? It was so bizarre. I asked, "about the company or the position?" He replies with, "yeah, whichever". I started to think (of course I have questions but was waiting to ask them until the end of the interview like normal), he quickly interjects and says "no importa" and we begin the "interview". He tells me he hasn't looked at my resume so we'll just walk through it together. He sees my university and asks what state is that in because he didn't recognize it. He then proceeds to get his phone and look it up on Google maps (very weird). We continue, he starts going through the dates of my work experience and asking weird questions in between like "Where were you born?". I lived abroad after high school for a year before beginning university. He asked what age I was and what I did during that year. I tell him and he goes "why didn't you put that on your resume?" I'm thinking, what?? Why didn't I put bartending horse racing events when I was 19 on my resume? Like wtf? He was also writing down those meaningless details (19 lived in ___, born in ___). After 40 minutes like that, it was over. He never asked me concrete details on my real work experience or gave me the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the interview. He also made very strange and constant eye contact through the entire process. It was terrible and I did not get the job, which was a shame because I know I did really well with the first 2 rounds which were much more aligned to what interviews normally are and should be.
