Pluspunten

* Great colleagues (talking about devs here; other departments you don't want to mess with them) * Nice office atmosphere in a good location * Interesting field of work: e-commerce and marketplaces * Different teams, so you can switch if you wish * The CEO is a nice guy and very friendly. Also a real entrepreneur!

Minpunten

* Management below the CEO is crap, incompetent, arrogant and some of them stabbing you in the back. * Used to be a flat structure company, but many layers of managers of managers where introduced. Vertical hierarchy exists. * Most engineering leads have no clue of the product, neither what is expected from them. * New seniors and leads are hired, instead of giving chance to current employees . * Salaries below the standard for developers in the NL (... I am already earning 32% more compared to what I had at ChannelEngine) * No side perks except commute allowance and WFH allowance. * Depending on the team, it could be a repetitive work and not much to learn after a year or so. * Fast development of new features and integrations which has its consequences for a long time. * Never trust the management above you, nor your Engineering Lead. Sooner or later you will get back-stabbed and nobody will help you to progress. Don't listen to promises of salary raise or role promotion - they just want to keep you busy with words. * Stay away if you are already an experienced developer.

Pluspunten

- Flexibility - you can come to the office whenever you like, you can work from wherever you like and you can work as much as you like - Office - very modern and close to the station, very cool office manager and you will always find a spot and I will later explain why - Flat hierarchy, you can easily approach the CEO and grab a coffee with him. However, there are a few people with a huge crown on their heads, who won't even respond to your DM or say hi

- I started here at the end of last year and my time is coming to an end very soon and I am glad that it is because my mental health is at a lowest point due to constant pressure, toxic environment, no appreciation of my work, no personal or professional development and a ridiculous financial reward. - We have a saying "Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose", which means that the more changes you are trying to make, the more you stay the same. This phrase perfectly describes ChannelEngine, as the company has just laid off 20% of employees and trying its best to recover and implement tons of things at the same time, the more it is drowned in its routines that have worked in the past and clearly are not working in the present. - Financial reward is very limited here, you will never get a bonus or a deserved raise if you work hard, the only thing you can expect is a 2% raise per year and no inflation adjustment. Bare in mind, that only a limited amount of people will get this 2%. - You will not get a training budget or additional courses or trainings to improve your skills in something, there is only Dutch and English. - In the past couple of months, the office has been a graveyard since nobody wants to show up because the atmosphere has been very toxic and people are too overwhelmed with the work because people keep getting laid off or quitting and you get more and more and you are expected to deliver 200%. Also, in my years working for different companies, I have never seen so many people in burnouts. There are people in burnouts in every single department from top management to customer support and I know there is a bunch of people who are very close to having one. - Poor communication between employees and departments. Sometimes people just ignore you or it takes them weeks to reply to a simple question, especially it comes to people who work outside of Leiden office. Nobody knows what departments are doing and there is a serious lack of transparency. - Finally, I believe that at a job you either need to earn or learn and it's both, then you are very lucky. At ChannelEngine, you get neither. The year here has brought to me many tears, disappointments and trauma, I would not recommend working here.

Healthy work environment; as dynamic and as flexible as it gets

- Flexible and casual work environment. - You own and in full control of your work. No micro management. - Opportunities to grow is endless. - Positive atmosphere and toxic office politics are too rare. - Open and humble environment where a senior management team member. can be working right in the desk beside you. - Strong people culture is in place. - Strong company values and most of the people are living up to them. - Diverse and international organization. - Transparent salary-scale for the entire organization.

Minpunten

* A 50-50 envirnment where you can equally find people with startup mindset who are flexible towards change but resistent towards governance which might introduce some chaos, while the other half has a growth mindset emembracing process over flexibility but mostly focused on their roles and working in silos regardless of other company dependencies. Although it is slightly slowing down the company's growth, it still provides proper balance and flexibility. * Many teams are under-staffed.
