Pluspunten

Good Salary, if well negotiated.

Minpunten

As someone with over 15 years of experience in the HR field, I had high expectations when I joined SAP, given its reputation. Unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of disappointing, and I feel compelled to share my observations in the hopes that future candidates have a clearer picture of what to expect. Firstly, SAP has shifted dramatically from its roots as a German company with strong values and a commitment to employee well-being. Today, the company operates with a much more American/British-inspired approach, prioritizing a hire-and-fire mentality that is at odds with German labor protection laws. This cultural shift has eroded the sense of security and loyalty that was once a hallmark of the organization. Personal development at SAP is almost nonexistent unless you happen to be a close ally of your manager. The company claims to promote open and honest feedback under the slogan “Tell it like it is,” but in reality, constructive criticism is neither welcomed nor tolerated. Employees who offer genuine feedback are often penalized, and career progression is reserved for those who follow their manager’s directives without question. Annual performance reviews and salary negotiations are another point of frustration. These discussions are supposed to be based on merit, but in reality, they are heavily influenced by personal dynamics. Any form of dissent or critique towards management is remembered and used against you, resulting in poor performance ratings and minimal, if any, compensation increases. Management, particularly in HR, is deeply entrenched in internal politics, often more concerned with their own image and standing with their superiors than with supporting their teams. This lack of genuine leadership and support creates a toxic work environment where employees feel undervalued and unsupported. In conclusion, SAP has unfortunately become a company where politics outweigh performance, and personal development is stifled unless you conform to the narrow expectations of leadership. The company’s values and work culture have dramatically declined, and it is no longer the prestigious employer it once was. I would not recommend SAP to professionals seeking a stable and supportive work environment.

Pluspunten

The people at SAP are genuinely nice, and the culture is generally supportive. The work-life balance is good to an extent, but when you're busy, you're BUSY. SAP is highly complex so expect to take a year to ramp up.

Minpunten

Only way to get a high salary is if you're hired externally. They do not reward employees who are loyal to the company. Closed opportunities often have to go through the Compensation Exception Committee, creating uncertainty around earnings. Prepare for constant change, whether that's solutions being removed from your sales bag, account shifts, territory realignments, or changing compensation policies. Quotas can be difficult to attain
