I applied as a freelance consultant. I was asked to do a coding test which took me a day. I did exactly what was asked, plus a little bit extra. They were happy with my results. However, they ended up not hiring me because of a struggle about budget between them and the recruitment agency. Really nasty that they let people put in so much effort and then just discard them.
